Manchester City and Midea America launch new community football project in Los Angeles | OneFootball

Manchester City and Midea America are proud to announce the launch of a new community football project in Los Angeles, creating supportive spaces for young people to play, learn and connect, while also gaining access to tools that strengthen their daily lives and families.

Midea America will donate a range of appliances – including refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, and kitchen appliances – helping transform the community centre into a welcoming environment that feels like home. These practical tools will support everything from meal preparation to keeping football kits clean, ensuring the space truly meets the community needs.

These enhanced facilities will give young people a supportive space to build friendships, learn about community football and healthy living, and develop essential life skills.

Building on previous initiatives in New York, São Paulo, and Bandung, and most recently across Africa, the Los Angeles project marks the latest milestone in the global partnership between Midea and Manchester City. In São Paulo and Bandung alone, more than 60 Midea home appliances were donated last season, helping to create safe, comfortable spaces where football, education, and leadership programmes could thrive.

The new project in Los Angeles will be delivered with Manchester City charity partner, East LA Rising, ensuring strong community involvement and lasting impact. Local Young Leaders will take the lead, supported by a combination of Midea product donations, grant funding, and leadership training from City in the Community coaches, who will travel from Manchester to provide hands-on mentorship.

Running throughout the season, the programme will blend football sessions with education-driven activities, helping participants feel supported, motivated, and confident. Beyond the pitch, the initiative will promote community growth through teamwork, leadership development, and personal development opportunities.

Together, Manchester City and Midea are committed to helping young people in Los Angeles feel connected and empowered, while opening opportunities for growth, leadership and success in safe, supportive environments.
