Manchester City are fighting each of Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to sign one of the Premier League’s most highly-rated attacking midfielders in the summer, as per a new report.

Changes are coming aplenty in the summer when incoming sporting director Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain conduct a thorough assessment of Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad to bring in new talent and made decisions on future(s) of senior players who have underperformed this term.

Erling Haaland has shouldered a large share of the goalscoring burden of much of the season and with the 24-year-old Norwegian out injured for the next month, the Blues are relying on January signing Omar Marmoush to fill the void left by their talisman.

City have struggled for creativity in midfield at various points of the season owing to recurring injuries sustained by the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne and a sub-par spell of form by his own standards for Phil Foden, who has failed to hit the heights of his own outstanding 2023-24 PFA Players’ Player of the Year campaign.

City are eyeing a sensational swoop for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz in the summer transfer window and with the Bundesliga club interested in City pair James McAtee and Stefan Ortega Moreno, a package deal could well materialise after a meeting held at the Etihad campus between both parties recently.

Guardiola will also see the long-awaited return of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri to first-team action in and around the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, with Oscar Bobb making his return to the pitch in a 2-0 win against Leicester City earlier this month.

Led by Viana, officials at the Etihad Stadium are expected to conduct a serious audit of Guardiola’s current crop of players in the final months of the season and enter the summer transfer market accordingly to bolster City’s prospects in various positions.

A left-back, an attacking midfielder, a goalkeeper and a forward could all be on the cards for Manchester City in terms of incomings after a crossroads season that saw the Blues fail to mount a challenge for the Premier League title and exit the UEFA Champions League at the Round of 16 stage in disappointing fashion to holders Real Madrid.

As reported by Africa Foot, whose information has been relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are interested in signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham in the summer alongside Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Kudus is believed to be valued at €85 million by West Ham, who are open to cashing in on their 24-year-old attacking midfielder, who has over three years remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium.

PSG are understood to be made contact with the Ghanian’s camp and after a breakthrough couple of years in east London, a big summer move might be on the cards for Kudus, who netted a sensational overhead volley goal in a 3-1 defeat away at Manchester City on the final day of the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.
