Manchester City have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign midfielder Elliot Anderson.
City have agreed to pay £116 million for the England international, surpassing the £100m they paid Aston Villa for Jack Grealish in 2021.
Anderson is expected to sign a five-year contract, with an option to extend it by an additional year. He will earn around £300,000 per week.
Anderson ranked first among Premier League midfielders last season for completed passes, accurate passes into the final third, touches, duels won and offensive duels won.
City will hope he can become a key player for the club as they begin a new era under manager Enzo Maresca.
Man City want to strengthen their midfield further after completing a deal for Anderson.
City expect Mateo Kovacic and Nico Gonzalez to leave, while Rodri could be sidelined for the start of the new season due to an unspecified injury, leaving Maresca short of midfield options.
They were linked with Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, both of whom have now chosen to join Tottenham Hotspur.
City are considering a move for Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, but they have yet to decide how to negotiate a deal. Lille want him loaned back to the club for next season to continue his development.
City have also been credited with an interest in Eduardo Camavinga, but he wants to stay with Real Madrid.
