Manchester City could make another signing in January after securing the arrivals of Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi this month, as per a new report.

The Blues have enjoyed a stellar January window so far, plugging glaring loopholes in attack and defence with the reliable signings of Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi – a duo as Premier League proven as they come in their respective departments.

Guardiola is missing preferred centre-half pairing Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, both of whom suffered injuries in City’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea earlier this month. Dias is expected to return in mid February, with Gvardiol sidelined until May.

City have won just twice in their last seven games in all competitions, with Guardiola and co winless in the Premier League in 2026 so far – having drawn against Sunderland, Chelsea, Brighton and lost to Manchester United last weekend.

With Arsenal seven points clear of City at the top of the Premier League, there are major doubts over whether Guardiola’s men can turn the ship around and go on one of their trademark winning runs to salvage their aspirations for a fifth league title in six years.

The Blues missed a host of key names in a 3-1 UEFA Champions League group-stage loss to Bodo/Glimt in midweek, with all of Antoine Semenyo, Matheus Nunes, Nico Gonzalez, Savinho, John Stones, Dias and Gvardiol missing from the matchday squad.

City were dealt a fresh blow in the Arctic Circle on Tuesday night, a performance embarrassing to the extent that the first-team squad’s leadership group have since spent over £10,000 to refund matchday ticket expenses to 374 Manchester City fans in the away end at Aspmyra Stadion.

No major incoming is expected at the Etihad Stadium in what remains of the January transfer window, with departures set to dominate headlines as Oscar Bobb considers a £30 million move to Fulham and Stefan Ortega Moreno searches for a club. Kalvin Phillips could also leave on loan to revitalise his career.

As reported by Mail Sport’s Jack Gaughan, Manchester City are considering a deal for 19-year-old Feyenoord star Givairo Read to shore up their options at right-back for the second half of the season.

Matheus Nunes has missed City’s recent losses to Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt with the flu, with Rico Lewis started on the right side of defence at Old Trafford and Rayan Ait-Nouri – traditionally a left-back – filling the void in Norway on Tuesday night.

Moreover, Abdukodir Khusanov has been partnering 20-year-old Max Alleyne in central defence since Dias and Gvardiol went off injured against Chelsea, leaving Rico Lewis as the only other viable alternative at right-back for Guardiola.

Regardless, outgoings are expected to determine the extent to which Manchester City pursue further business in the final weeks of the window as the Blues remain in the running for silverware on four fronts.
