Officials at Manchester City believe the brand new expansion project at the Etihad Stadium could lead to a staggering revenue boost for the club in future.

It is understood that the £300 million expansion and improvement project will open during the 2025/26 season, taking the Etihad Stadium’s overall capacity to more than 60,000 and with the North Stand also including a large rail-seating area of in excess of 3,000 ‘seats’.

City have also confirmed that the new North Stand will feature family areas, ring-fenced tickets for younger generations of fans, and new and redeveloped concourse areas, plus the introduction of new breakout spaces, religious rooms and alcohol-free areas.

New premium seating offerings are also being brought in by the club with Manchester City revealing last month that it will include a 500-seat food hall, a premium bar for around 300 fans, and a new sky bar with seats overlooking the pitch.

The work will also continue outside of the North Stand, with the club revealing that the new-look Etihad Stadium will feature a stadium roof walk experience, a new City Square fan zone with capacity for 3,000 people, a wide variety of food and drink outlets, a new club shop, museum experience, commercial office space, and one of the biggest hotels in Manchester.

According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, those at the Premier League champions estimate that once the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand expansion project is up and running, they will have an additional £50 million-per-year revenue stream.

Commenting upon the approval of the Club’s planning application for their North Stand expansion work, Manchester City Operations Managing Director, Danny Wilson said, “This development will not only enable the Club to enhance and expand its offering to fans and visitors on both matchday and non-matchday, but it will also create lasting long-term economic and social benefits for our local community, building on the regeneration work City Football Group has delivered in East Manchester since 2008.”

Since commenting on the remarkable progress being made on the site, Wilson has explained, “The skyline on the campus is already starting to look incredibly different and it’s great to be able to see the structure of the future development rise.

“The crane towers have been in place for a couple of months, and they’ve now been joined by four of the hotels’ cores. The expansion is an ambitious project, and you can really sense the scale of the development as construction progresses.

“Over the coming weeks Sisk will be completing internal works ahead of next season to minimise disruption to fans. There’ll also be some significant milestones in the months ahead and we’re looking forward to marking those prior to the full development opening in late 2026.”
