Newcastle United went down to a surprise 2-1 defeat to Fulham at St. James Park. That was a surprise considering how well Eddie Howe’s side has performed this season. Bournemouth were also beaten 2-nil by Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium yesterday. Chelsea aren’t in action until Monday night against West Ham. If Manchester City can beat Arsenal today it will give them breathing space in the battle to secure Champions League football. It would also allow them to put pressure on Enzo Maresca’s side.

Beating Arsenal at the Emirates will be no easy task for Manchester City. Mikel Arteta’s side will be up for the visit of the world champions. They are also aiming to keep in touch with runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool at the top of the table. But an opportunity is there for Manchester City to seize the early initiative in the battle to secure Champions League football for next season.
