After Guardiola, Manchester City already has their man

Manchester City: Pep Guardiola's successor has been decided
Manchester City is quietly beginning to prepare for the post-Guardiola era. While the Spanish manager's contract runs until 2027 and is not expected to be renewed, the Daily Mirror reveals that the club is already actively considering his successor. And one name is gaining more and more traction: Vincent Kompany, current Bayern Munich manager and a true Skyblues legend.
The former City captain, deeply connected to both the club and the city, ticks numerous boxes in the eyes of the club’s leadership. Bacary Sagna, who also played at the Etihad, did not hesitate to call Kompany the 'ideal man' to take over, praising his personality, vision of the game, and the maturity he has shown early in his coaching career.
The Belgian’s achievements only strengthen his status as the front-runner. After a promising 2024-2025 debut season in Germany, Kompany is having a sensational 2025-2026 campaign: his Bayern side is simply the last unbeaten team among Europe’s top five leagues. This is a powerful signal confirming that the former defender is, more than ever, on course for a legendary return to Manchester City.
