Manchester City take on Ipswich Town in a crucial Premier League fixture at Portman Road later today. Pep Guardiola’s side will be desperate to pick up all three points as they bid to keep in touch with the battle for a top-four finish. For Ipswich Town, they’ll be eager to upset Manchester City as they bid to pick up three points to move out of the relegation zone. It promises to be an entertaining affair later today with both teams desperate to pick up all three points. Here is the latest City injury news and my predicted Manchester City starting eleven ahead of today’s match.
Manchester City are slowly getting players back from injury. Rodri will definitely miss today’s match as he faces another few months on the sidelines. But a host of other players could be in line to return to Pep Guardiola’s squad for today’s match.
Oscar Bobb has continued to train as he remains on the comeback trail from a fractured leg. There is the potential that he could be a part of City’s squad for today’s match. He is slowly working his way back to full fitness and his return to the City squad is becoming imminent. Ruben Dias has been training and he could return to the Manchester City starting lineup today.
John Stones is also on the comeback trail. But Pep Guardiola has previously said that he will be taking a cautious approach with Stones’ fitness. It remains to be seen if he is fit enough to return for today’s match.
Ederson- I believe Ederson will get the nod in goal for today’s match. Stefan Ortega hasn’t done anything wrong but I can Ederson starting today.
Rico Lewis- Matheus Nunes started at right-back against Brentford but I can Lewis resuming in the role today.
Ruben Dias- Manuel Akanji struggled against Brentford and if Dias is fit enough I expect him to start.
Nathan Ake- Ake has been superb of late and he should start once again today.
Josko Gvardiol- The Croatian international played one of his better games for some time against Brentford. The hope is that he can carry that form into today’s match.
Mateo Kovacic- I’m expecting Bernardo Silva to be rested today with a crucial fixture against PSG around the corner. That should see Kovacic start in midfield today.
Jack Grealish- Manchester City need energy in midfield and I believe Grealish can provide that. He needs to string performances together to show he has a future at Manchester City and that could start today if he lines up in midfield.
Kevin De Bruyne- De Bruyne was brilliant against Brentford and he should start today.
Phil Foden- Foden has looked more like himself in recent matches. He’s in form and should start today after his brace against Brentford.
Savinho- The Brazilian international is one of City’s most in form players and that should see him start once again today.
Erling Haaland- Haaland signed a mammoth contract extension a few days ago and that should see him come into today’s match ready to go. He scored a hat trick in City’s last match against Ipswich Town and will be eager to do so again today.
