It is no secret that Barcelona will enter the market for a new defender in the summer of 2026, with the club monitoring multiple targets.
One of them is Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace defender whose contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of the season.
Guehi’s status as a potential free agent makes him an ideal target for Barcelona, although things will be made difficult thanks to competition from arch-rivals Real Madrid.
However, Real Madrid won’t be the only club competing with Barcelona for the services of Marc Guehi, as Manchester City, too, are interested in his services.
According to The Times, the Premier League giants are interested in Guehi as they eye a potential overhaul in the defensive unit in the summer.
With John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake facing uncertain futures at Manchester City, the club are looking for a fresh face.

Guehi fits the bill perfectly due to his status as a free agent, coupled with his vast experience in the Premier League.
The Englishman has almost 150 appearances in the Premier League while also winning 26 caps for the Three Lions.
Man City, therefore, are keen on his services, which doesn’t bode well for Barcelona.
The Catalans are still facing an economic crunch and won’t be in a position to lure Guehi with a lucrative contract. That is where clubs like Man City and Real Madrid have the upper hand.
Missing out on Guehi could be a major blow Barça as well, considering the fact that other expected free agents such as Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano may no longer be an option.
