Over the past three matches for Manchester City, Abdukodir Khusanov has started at right-back. With his pace, strength, and ability to time a challenge, Khusanov has seemingly become Manchester City’s first-choice right-back. Unfortunately, Khusanov sustained an injury during Manchester City’s 1-all draw with Arsenal on Sunday. It is now hoped that the Uzbek international won’t be sidelined for a prolonged period of time.

Abdukodir Khusanov picked up what looked to be a foot injury against Arsenal.

One of the highlights of Manchester City’s first-half performance against Arsenal was the performance of Abdukodir Khusanov. He was impressive at right-back and kept Leandro Trossard out of Sunday’s match while on the pitch. His pace and defensive aptitude stood out. One challenge in particular stood out when Trossard did get free, Khusanov made up the ground with his pace and put in a superb challenge to dispossess Trossard. That challenge summed up Khusanov’s first-half display.

Unfortunately for Khusanov, he sustained a foot injury in the early stages of the first-half at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal centre-back Gabriel innocuously stood on his foot. Khusanov played out the remainder of the first-half but was replaced by Matheus Nunes at halftime due to the injury he sustained.

Manchester City will be hoping that Khusanov isn’t out of action for too long.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping that Abdukodir Khusanov hasn’t sustained a serious injury. As mentioned above, the young defender has slotted in seamlessly at right-back. Although he isn’t as proficient in possession as Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes, but Khusanov excels defensively. His pace is a valuable component of Manchester City’s defence and has been in City’s past three matches. It seems that he on the verge of becoming a valuable player for Pep Guardiola’s side.

As of right now it is unclear how long Khusanov will be out of action for. The hope is that he isn’t unavailable for too long as he looks to have established himself as City’s first-choice right-back.
