Lommel overcame Beerschot comfortably over two legs to set up a battle with Dender for a place in the Belgian Pro League. The second tier side, who are part of the City group under Manchester City, are led by former Bristol City, Sunderland and Hibs head coach Lee Johnson. Over two legs against Beerschot, who were relegated from the Pro League last season, Lommel won 3-1 both at home and away from home.
This comes despite Lommel having finished fifth in the regular season, with Beerschot coming in third just three points behind Kortrijk and automatic promotion. However, Lommel still have to beat Dender over two legs. Their opponents have finished bottom of the Pro League, but with no automatic relegation this season they still have a chance of survival. Dender have been poor all season, and won just two games during the relegation play-offs, both against RAAL La Louviere.
Lommel certainly have what it takes to beat Dender over two legs, but more often than not the side from the Pro League is superior and ends up winning these fixtures.
