Manchester United abandon €45m Ederson deal with Atalanta | OneFootball

Manchester United have withdrawn from their €45m agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, Sky Sport Italia reports.

The clubs had settled terms in June, with €40.5m guaranteed and a further €4.5m in bonuses.

Completion was delayed while Ederson was with Brazil at the 2026 World Cup. After Brazil’s elimination, United requested additional intensive medical tests, which were carried out over the last 48 hours.

United have since informed Atalanta they are pulling out of the transfer. The Italian side are confident the decision is not linked to the medicals or any long-term injury, and believe United changed course.

La Dea note that a serious issue would have ruled Ederson out of Brazil’s World Cup squad. The midfielder is under contract until June 2028.

It remains to be seen whether he is sold elsewhere or integrated under new coach Maurizio Sarri.
