Manchester United have renewed their interest in Justin Kluivert, as per reports.
Kluivert, son of Dutch great Patrick, first landed on United’s radar after breaking through at Ajax.
Former United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly showed interest in signing the then-Ajax sensation but the Dutch talent eventually moved to AS Roma.
Kluivert failed to live up to the hype in Rome and had to go on three different loan stints to gain minutes. In 2023, Bournemouth decided to place their trust in his potential and secured his services on a permanent basis from the Giallorossi for a fee in the region of £9.6m.
On the South Coast, the 25-year-old has thrived under Andoni Iraola, who has used him as a number 10 and on the left flank.
The Netherlands international has managed to score 12 goals and register six assists in 27 Premier League appearances, sparking interest from several English giants.
According to Chronicle Live, United, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all tracking the versatile forward, who has earned plenty of plaudits for his exploits with the Cherries.
It is claimed that Kluivert’s suitors “could have to fork out more than £25million” to strike an agreement with Bournemouth this summer.
The Dutchman’s ability to play as an attacking midfielder could come in handy at Old Trafford, as the Mancunians now play with two number 10s under Ruben Amorim.
However, it is understood that the Magpies have an advantage in the race as Kluivert is impressed by the project under Eddie Howe.
Newcastle, who currently sit sixth in the league table, are vying for a Champions League spot. The 14th-placed Red Devils, meanwhile, are more or less destined to not secure qualification through their league performance. This could further hamper their chances during the summer transfer window.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are also eyeing a summer move for Kluivert’s teammate Antoine Semenyo.
