In a recent post on X, The Evening Standard journalist Sam Tabuteau stated that Manchester United are in talks to recruit Tottenham Hotspur youngster Tynan Thompson. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on the English talent ahead of a potential move for him this summer.
Thompson came through the youth ranks of Tottenham and has managed to catch the eye at times for them in youth football. The English wing wizard has done well to establish himself as an important member of their Under-21 team.
The 18-year-old has made 19 appearances for the North London club’s U-21 side, scoring five times and picking up four assists in the process so far in multiple competitions. However, he is still waiting to make his first senior appearance for them.
Thompson is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Still, Man United would do well to get a deal done for him later this year as he has the potential to be a success story at Old Trafford in the long run.

Thompson excels at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The English talent can even chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Standing at 1.87m, Thompson can use his strong frame to get the better of his marker out in the wide areas. However, there are some concerns over whether he can replicate his good form in top-flight football.
We can expect Thompson to bring more firepower to Man United boss Michael Carrick’s frontline in the long run. He has got the ceiling to be a world-class player in his position someday.
At 18, the future looks quite bright for Thompson as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. However, Carrick has to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of the gifted wide player at the Mancunian club.
