In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Manchester United are in the running to sign Atletico Madrid full-back Nahuel Molina. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils would have to rival Manchester City in the race to land the Argentine defender next year.

Molina’s Impressive Form In La Liga Last Season

Molina enjoyed a solid campaign at the Madrid club recently after he produced a series of impressive displays on the right side of their defence. The 27-year-old registered one goal and grabbed three assists in 44 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side last season across multiple competitions.

The Argentine talent deserves a ton of credit for making 44 tackles, 16 blocks, 13 interceptions and 53 clearances in La Liga. He was even careful when distributing the ball from the right flank after completing 85.3% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in the summer of 2027, which could open the door for Man United to recruit him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Go For Molina?

Molina is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and can even create some inviting chances for his teammates from the right flank.

The Argentina international is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a centre-back or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League.

Molina would bring more bite and steel to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s defence. He is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at Old Trafford.

At 27, Molina is about to enter his prime, which makes him a worthy target for the Red Devils to pursue next year. With all things considered, Amorim would be wise to go for a player of his quality and versatility this January or at the end of this campaign.
