Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Telegraph.

The Red Devils are looking to sign a replacement for Casemiro and the France international has emerged as a top target as they look to strengthen their options at the Old Trafford club.

However, Man United may need to wait for Madrid’s midfield transfer decisions before getting a green light to sign Tchouameni.

The La Liga club are known admirers of Manchester City midfielder Rodri, and a move for him could pave the way for the Frenchman to leave.

Madrid may also need to raise transfer funds and it is believed they are also willing to listen to offers for Eduardo Camavinga.

Man United want to sign at least two midfielders in the summer, and Tchouameni has caught their eye.

The 26-year-old has two more years on his contract and this summer could be the best time for him to be sold if a contract extension is not on the cards.

The former AS Monaco star joined Madrid in 2022 and has made 190 appearances, winning the Champions League and every domestic trophy available in the Spanish top-flight.

While the Man United target is primarily a defensive midfielder, Tchouameni can also feature as a centre-back and the Red Devils could do with his experience and quality.

However, they will not be the only club looking to sign him should Madrid indicate they are open to his departure.

The Frenchman will be desperate to keep challenging for the major trophies and playing regular and guaranteed Champions League football should he leave Los Blancos.

Man United will be playing in the elite European competition next season from the look of things after a change of fortunes on the pitch under manager Michael Carrick.

They have not been regulars in the competition in recent seasons and whether Tchouameni will be open to joining them remains to be seen.
