Young midfielder will miss out again under Ruben Amorim
Manchester United will be without Kobbie Mainoo for their trip to Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime.
The midfielder has been ruled out with a minor knock, according to The Athletic.
The England international has struggled for game time since Ruben Amorim took over at Old Trafford, with Mainoo not starting a single Premier League fixture this term.
It has cost him his place in the England squad too, being overlooked once more by Thomas Tuchel, having started in the Euro 2024 final last year.
Mainoo even requested to leave Old Trafford on loan in the summer, but that was turned down.
Now, the trip to north London will be yet another game that Mainoo misses out on, but The Athletic report that youth prospect Jack Fletcher will replace the 20-year-old on the bench.
As such, Fletcher will continue a long-standing United record, where an academy graduate has been included in a first-team squad.
That record has stood for 88 years, for 4,332 successive games.
Mainoo was the player in recent times keeping the record intact, along with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay in previous seasons.
Current members of the squad that have come through the youth set-up include Tom Heaton, the third-choice goalkeeper, and young defender Tyler Fredericson.
