Manchester United like Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and have held talks to assess the overall cost of signing him, according to The Athletic.

They are looking to bring two or three midfielders to Old Trafford this summer, and the 22-year-old England Under-21 international has emerged as a target.

Scott’s energy and ability on the ball are qualities the Red Devils need in the middle of the park.

He could form a solid partnership with Kobbie Mainoo as Michael Carrick looks to turn the team into credible title challengers.

Carrick is expected to be announced as the permanent boss after a successful spell as interim manager.

Scott is not the only Bournemouth star the Old Trafford club are considering.

Tyler Adams is also a target, and United are in touch to understand the cost of signing him, which may be around £40 million.

Only Casemiro averages more than the 27-year-old 4.8 ‘true’ interceptions per 1,000 opposition touches this season.

Adams could be a key asset in protecting the Red Devils’ defence if he is signed.

The Bournemouth duo could be open to a move, but nothing has been finalised yet as United’s recruitment staff are surveying several options.

Aurelien Tchouameni, Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes have been linked with United.

Carlos Baleba, Ederson, Adam Wharton, Sandro Tonali, Hayden Hackney and Shea Charles are also targets.
