In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Manchester United have launched a move for Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the Portugal international to Old Trafford this month.

Neves has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the Saudi club as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of solid performances for them in the middle of the park. The 28-year-old has scored seven goals and earned three assists in 20 appearances for Al-Hilal this season in multiple competitions.

The Portuguese talent has offered solid protection for his teammates at the back and has done well to win 15 tackles and make seven interceptions in the Saudi Pro League (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Al-Hilal will expire at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap this year.

Will Neves Be A Good Option For Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick?

Neves loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when needed and is an accurate passer of the ball.

The Portuguese talent has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League from his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man United. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so.

Neves would undoubtedly add a lot of experience and quality to Michael Carrick’s midfield department. He is good enough to serve as an ideal successor to Casemiro at the Mancunian club. The Portuguese midfield ace will also help the Red Devils compete across all fronts in the coming years.

At 28, Neves is playing in his prime, which makes him a great option for Man United to consider this January. Another option for Carrick would be to wait until the end of this campaign before signing him on a free transfer. Either way, the Red Devils should focus on bringing him on board soon.
