In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester United have identified Chelsea forward Liam Delap as a target for this summer transfer window. It is believed that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the English striker to Old Trafford this off-season.

Delap’s Growing Struggles At Chelsea Last Season

Delap struggled to find consistency for the Blues in the previous campaign and failed to make himself as a regular starter for them in the Premier League. Still, the English talent deserves some credit for scoring two goals and securing four assists in 41 matches for the London outfit last season across various competitions.

The English talent can be a streaky goal-scorer in the Premier League when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. Hence, it is no wonder that the Red Devils have set their sights on the talented frontman as he could prove to be a solid back-up striker for them next season.

His current contract at Stamford Bridge will run out in the summer of 2031. Thus, Man United would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing Delap in this transfer window.

What Will Delap Add To Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick’s Team?

Delap can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.

The English forward is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet, but needs to find a way to be more consistent in front of the opponent’s goal. Delap is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a winger on either flank if asked to do so. He has got some valuable experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Theatre of Dreams.

Delap would undoubtedly add more quality to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team place at Old Trafford.

At 23, Delap will only improve with each season. Therefore, Carrick should focus on going all out to secure his services before the end of this summer transfer period.
