Sky Germany reports that Manchester United have joined Liverpool and Chelsea in the race for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
Man United have made contact with Frankfurt in the past 48 hours to express their interest in the striker and have collected all necessary information.
Chelsea and Liverpool have continued to show interest in the 22-year-old, but Frankfurt continue to demand €100m for Ekitike, which the London-based side is unwilling to meet. Considering the recent sales of Randal Kolo Muani and Omar Marmoush, Frankfurt is unlikely to budge from their valuation of Ekitike.
In the second half of this season, the 22-year-old came into his own after the departure of his striker partner Marmoush to Manchester City. In 33 games, the Frenchman finished with 15 goals and eight assists as Frankfurt qualified for the Champions League after finishing third.
die Adler are already preparing for a potential departure of Ekitike as they look to wrap up the signing of Mainz striker Jonathan Burkardt, who could not only replace the Frenchman but play alongside him in the event that he stays.
