AS Roma and France international midfielder Manu Koné (25) could be Manchester United’s third summer signing to strengthen Michael Carrick’s engine room, according to L’Equipe. After signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa, the Red Devils have initiated talks with Koné, billed as a priority target by United’s decision-makers.
The outlet adds that at least two other Premier League clubs – one of them is Arsenal – are also in the running to sign the France international, but Manchester United are understood to be at the front of the queue. Although, talks are yet to reach a decisive stage. United intend to take their time and analyze potential deals to avoid overpaying.
Koné, whose performances at the World Cup with France have caught the eye, is expected to join a Premier League side this summer. The former Toulouse midfielder is also keen on a move to England. The 25-year-old would like to have his future sorted out rapidly.
