FC Barcelona have been looking to strengthen their forward line for quite some time now, and with their return to the 1:1 rule, the Catalans are now expected to amp up their efforts to get the required reinforcements for their attack.

In recent weeks and months, Barcelona have been linked with several players to strengthen their squad, with one of the most notable names being Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The €55m-rated English forward appears increasingly likely to leave Manchester United. Reports suggest a breakdown in relations between the player and the club, prompting the Premier League side to consider offloading him.

The Red Devils are expected to place the forward on the market either during the ongoing winter transfer window or in the summer to prevent further issues within their dressing room.

Could Barcelona be his Next Destination?

So, where does Barcelona fit into this picture? According to reports, Rashford sees Barcelona as one of the preferred destinations where he would like to continue his career at the highest level.

The Catalan giants, according to SPORT, are aware of this and are certainly interested, but the key obstacle remains Rashford’s high salary, which currently stands at €18 million annually.

Given the club’s financial restrictions, despite returning to the 1-1 rule, a move involving such a high salary is simply not feasible for Barcelona at this time.

Yet, there’s still a potential path forward. Both Rashford and Manchester United are in a difficult position, and this may create an opportunity for a deal that benefits all parties.

A loan move, with an option to buy, could be on the cards, and in this scenario, Rashford would have to reduce his salary, while United may help cover part of that fee. Under these conditions, the possibility of a move to the Catalan capital becomes much more realistic.

Interest from Other Clubs

Interestingly, Italan club AC Milan has also shown interest in securing Rashford’s services on loan and already initiated contact with the player’s representatives, gauging the chances of a transfer.

Rashford is represented by his own brother, although a major agency, close to Barça, has also tried to approach him to manage his future going forward.

The Final Verdict

At Barça, there’s no questioning Marcus Rashford’s quality. A versatile player, he can excel on the left wing or as a central forward, and his impressive goal-scoring record speaks for itself. He’s certainly at the level required for a club like FC Barcelona.

However, there are concerns about his professionalism, an issue that has caused some frustration in England. The Catalans are aware of these concerns but have yet to make any formal moves. As the winter transfer window nears its end, the situation could intensify, with the Rashford saga potentially heating up in the coming days and weeks.
