Manchester United have reportedly lured Will Carvalho away from rival Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion, making him their new Head Performance Chef for the men’s First Team.
Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe assumed operational control of United last year, there have been a lot of backroom changes, as he seeks to implement a best-in-class structure that will usher in a new era of success at the club.
These changes have extended beyond the footballing side, reaching into other departments as well, including medical and nutrition.
Now, a new appointment has been made.
Ratcliffe has consistently demonstrated across his various sporting ventures a strong interest in sports science, prioritising the recruitment of top experts in each field to ensure peak performance at his enterprises.
According to Training Ground Guru, United have successfully landed Carvalho, who has been serving as Brighton’s Executive Performance Chef.
Carvalho has worked at Brighton for the past two seasons. He replaces Omar Meziane, who left United last October.
It’s understood that Carvalho will officially start work at United next month, ahead of pre-season.
He said about the new job and his Brighton exit, “It’s a new challenge, a next step in my career.”
“Timing and opportunity don’t always align but I am massively grateful for my time at Brighton.”
He also wrote on Instagram, “Sad to leave this team and staff and my catering team, some huge legacy stays behind. Love you all!”
Training Ground Guru note that Carvalho brings a wealth of experience, having spent over 12 and a half years with Brazil’s women’s national team, in addition to holding roles with the Gloucester rugby union team and Scottish rugby.
