Manchester United are ready to turn down loan approaches for Joshua Zirkzee in January – but are prepared to consider permanent proposals.

Zirkzee has struggled to command a regular role at Manchester United this season, following more than £200m of investment in the club’s forward line last summer.

The arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have restricted Zirkzee to just 340 minutes of Premier League football.

Reports in Italy have claimed that AS Roma have seen a loan bid rejected. Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Roma have seen a loan bid to bring Zirkzee back to Serie A turned down.

Manchester United are not willing to accept loan offers next moth, though the Metro have said permanent proposals will be considered. United are not prepared to let the Dutch international leave without receiving funds to reinvest.

Ruben Amorim’s attacking options are set to be depleted later this month, when Mbeumo and Amad Diallo depart for Africa Cup of Nations duty.

Roma are not the only club interested in Zirkzee. Several Premier League teams, including Everton and West Ham, have been credited with interest.
