Manchester United have rejected the chance to sign Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr, with the forward now set to move to Fenerbahce.

Duran is poised to move to Fenerbahce on an initial loan deal, just six months on from his €77m transfer to the Saudi Pro League from Aston Villa.

The Colombia international joined Al-Nassr in January and scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for the Saudi side, but is now set to depart.

Duran will fly to Istanbul today to complete his proposed move to Turkey. However, the forward was offered a route back to the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United were offered the chance to loan the 22-year-old, but turned down the offer. The deal would have seen the Red Devils pay Duran’s reported £335,000-a-week salary.

“Manchester United were offered the chance to sign Jhon Duran from Al-Nassr on an initial loan deal covering his salary,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“But Manchester United decided to turn down that possibility and focus on other targets.”

Before his winter window move to the Saudi Pro League, Duran scored 12 times in all competitions for Aston Villa during the first half of the 2024/25 season.

He signed a new deal at Villa Park in October 2024 but was sold just three months later. A lack of first-team starts and Villa’s precarious PSR position prompted his sale.
