Manchester United are prepared to address their goalkeeping concerns ahead of the new season.
United have spent the early part of the summer focusing on their Bryan Mbeumo pursuit, having seen two bids turned down by Brentford.
On Thursday, the Red Devils made an improved offer for Mbeumo and there’s optimism on all sides that their proposal worth £70 million will be enough to convince the Bees.
As such, this is the right time for United to make a move for other targets to ensure Amorim has a proper squad for pre-season.
According to talkSPORT, United are ready to step up their interest in Senne Lammens.
The Royal Antwerp number one has grabbed the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs with his sharp shot-stopping and composed style of goalkeeping.
It is claimed United are “in the hunt” for a new goalkeeper after Andre Onana suffered a hamstring injury. He has been ruled out for six weeks and is unlikely to play any part in the club’s pre-season tour.
Antwerp value the 23-year-old Belgian, who is tied the club until the summer of 2027, at around £17 million.
The highly-rated Belgium under-21 international’s price tag makes him an appealing option for United as he could be a potential first-choice or understudy to Onana if the Cameroon international stays at Old Trafford beyond the summer.
In February, Lammens labelled the news of United’s interest in him “special”. As such it shouldn’t be difficult for the Mancunians to convince the sought-after talent to join their project.
In recent days, United have been strongly linked with Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez.
The Argentina international, who is valued at £40m by Villa, is reportedly eyeing a move to United.
However, it is understood that the high-profile goalkeeper “will not move” to United if Onana remains at the club.
