Michael Carrick is likely to stick rather than twist for Merseyside trip on Monday
Manchester United will remain without Mason Mount for tonight’s trip to face Everton in the Premier League.
The midfielder last appeared in a matchday squad against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in January, but suffered a knock in training before facing Fulham and has missed every match since.
Michael Carrick will still be missing Mount for a Monday evening visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, along with defender Matthijs de Ligt, who is struggling with a back injury.
De Ligt continues to sit out after last playing against Crystal Palace on November 30, while full-back Patrick Dorgu, another absentee, injured his hamstring against Arsenal and has spent time in Dubai to recuperate.
Carrick stressed patience, explaining Mount is close but must return fully fit, whereas De Ligt still trails behind in his recovery.
Mount previously managed 14 straight appearances from September to December, scoring against Sunderland, Palace and Wolves, while De Ligt has now missed more than three months after previously playing every Premier League minute this season.
It leaves Carrick with few options to mix up his team selection. After almost two weeks without a game, the head coach is likely to stick with what he knows.
That means Benjamin Sesko will likely remain on the bench, with Bryan Mbeumo leading the attack in front of Matheus Cunha, Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes.
Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro should keep their places in midfield. One possible change could see Leny Yoro come into defence.
Predicted Man Utd XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Amad, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo
Injured: Mount, De Ligt, Dorgu
Time and date: 8pm GMT on Monday, February 23, 2026
Venue: Hill Dickinson Stadium
