Ruben Amorim takes his Manchester United side to the Etihad on Sunday, looking to build on their first league win of the season.
The Red Devils can draw significant confidence from their recent record at City’s home ground. However, a fresh injury crisis has forced the manager into three changes from a winning team, presenting a major selection challenge ahead of the derby.
Ruben Amorim’s plans have been significantly disrupted by injuries. He will be without three key players who started in the win over Burnley, as Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount, and Diogo Dalot are all unavailable. This forces the manager into a major reshuffle for one of the biggest games of the season.
The changes are straightforward in some areas. Patrick Dorgu, for instance, is set to slot in at left-wing back as a direct replacement for Dalot. Mount’s absence, however, creates a tactical opportunity in midfield.
It opens the door for talented youngster Kobbie Mainoo to make his first Premier League start of the season. Consequently, captain Bruno Fernandes could move into a more advanced attacking role, where his league-leading creativity will be vital.
Manchester United predicted XI: Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Mainoo, Casemiro, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Fernandes; Sesko
The Premier League fixture will be played at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, 14 September 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30 pm BST.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with coverage starting at 4 pm BST.
