Ruben Amorim dealt blow double blow for biggest game of the season yet
Manchester United will be without both Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Real Sociedad.
Maguire was forced off injured as United lost to Fulham in the FA Cup and did not train ahead of the trip to Spain.
Ugarte also came off during that game and, like Maguire, did not travel with the rest of his teammates.
“Small things,” said manager Ruben Amorim on Thursday.
"So we are being careful with them because, in this moment, we cannot allow us to lose more players for a long time. We are taking care of them in Carrington and they cannot play this game because it will be a greater risk."
Young striker Chido Obi has not been registered for the competition, so will not be involved.
There is better news regarding midfielder Toby Collyer, however. A muscle injury has ruled the 21-year-old out of the last four games but he has returned to training and flew to Spain as part of the squad.
Amorim is also without a number of key players. Kobbie Mainoo is not expected back for a number of weeks, while Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo won’t play again this season.
All of Luke Shaw, Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton and Mason Mount remain sidelined.
Patrick Dorgu is available despite a domestic suspension following a red card shown against Ipswich.
Man Utd predicted XI: Onana; Yoro, de Ligt, Heaven; Dalot, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Zirkzee, Garnacho, Hojlund
Injured: Shaw, Bayindir, Evans, Heaton, Mainoo, Mount, Amad, Martinez
Ineligible: Chido Obi
