Jordan Rhodes is wanted on loan by three other EFL sides.

Mansfield Town are being linked with a late loan move for experienced Blackpool striker Jordan Rhodes before Monday's deadline.

This is according to The Sun, who have reported that League One strugglers Burton Albion are also interested in the Scotsman, alongside high-flying Bradford City of League Two.

FLW also revealed exclusively earlier this week that Cambridge United had also enquired into the possibility of signing Rhodes.

Rhodes, who is now 34, has started just three league games all season for Steve Bruce’s Tangerines and his exit from Bloomfield Road now appears to be imminent.

Jordan Rhodes wanted by EFL trio after falling out of favour at Blackpool

Having appeared for no less than eight different clubs within the Football League pyramid, Rhodes is something of an EFL veteran, who could now be adding a new club to his résumé with Bradford, Burton and Mansfield all keen.

He first hit the headlines way back in the early 2010s, when he plundered an astonishing 37 goals in League One for Huddersfield Town back in the 2011/12 season.

The Terriers went on to win the third tier title that season, but after scoring twice in his opening two Championship games the following campaign, Rhodes departed to join Blackburn Rovers, who had just been relegated from the Premier League.

Rhodes netted over 20 league goals in three of his four seasons at Ewood Park, before moving on to join Middlesbrough, where he got a brief taste of top-flight football for the only time in his career.

However, since his time at Blackburn, Rhodes’ career has tailed off somewhat. He went seven consecutive seasons without reaching 10 league goals (in any division), until he notched 15 from 29 league games for Blackpool last year.

Rhodes could be a good option for any of the three clubs who are linked

Despite his goalscoring exploits last term, Rhodes has played just 533 minutes of league football for Blackpool this season.

At his age, he will surely want to play games while he still can, as given his injury issues over recent years, it’s unlikely Rhodes will play for too much longer.

Therefore, a loan move to get game-time away from Bloomfield Road surely suits all parties.

All three of the rumoured clubs could be good options for Blackpool to send Rhodes too.

Mansfield are by far the best of the three sides, but at the same time, are blessed with the best attacking options. Both Lee Gregory and Will Evans are already into double figures for the campaign.

But with Gregory now 36, Rhodes could be a useful addition to help reduce the workload on the former Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall man.

By contrast, Burton are fighting for their lives to stay in League One, despite a recent upturn in form.

If Rhodes made the switch to the Pirelli Stadium, it would likely provide him with more opportunities than a move to Mansfield potentially would, but he’d be playing for a side of much less quality.

Similarly, joining Bradford would see Rhodes drop into League Two for the first time in his career, but with Bantams frontman Andy Cook out for the remainder of the season, it would virtually guarantee him gametime.

It remains to be seen where Rhodes will end up, but having seemingly fallen out of favour with Steve Bruce, it would be a huge surprise if he’s still at Bloomfield Road at the close of the window.
