Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that Marc-André ter Stegen has joined Ajax on loan until June 2027.

The 34-year-old, short of minutes and slowed by injury during his spell at Girona last season, will aim to regain rhythm and form in the Netherlands.

The move follows weeks of reporting in Spain about a switch to Amsterdam.

No longer an automatic starter at Barcelona, the Germany international has still left a significant mark, winning the Champions League in 2015 among 21 trophies.

He made 423 appearances for the club, ranking 11th in their all-time list and the second most-capped foreign player, behind Lionel Messi.
