Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi (25) has informed the club he will not sign a new contract and intends to leave at the end of the season, Sky Sports reports.
The England international’s current deal expires on June 30, 2026, meaning Guehi can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 1. Palace, who had hoped to tie down their talismanic defender to a long-term extension, now face the prospect of losing one of the Premier League’s most sought-after players for nothing.
“I think Marc has already told us that he doesn’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year,” Glasner said on Friday. “The club wanted him to stay, but he said he wants something different. It’s now about how we manage this situation together.”
Guehi came close to a £35m move to Liverpool on Deadline Day in September before chairman Steve Parish pulled the plug late in the window, unable to secure a replacement. Liverpool, who have since lost Giovanni Leoni to a season-ending knee injury, are expected to renew their interest in January.
However, the Reds face competition from Europe’s elite. Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are all monitoring Guehi’s situation closely, with several clubs ready to open talks once the transfer window reopens.
Real Madrid are said to see Guehi as a key summer target after missing out on Arsenal’s William Saliba. His potential availability on a free transfer makes him one of the most coveted defenders in world football.
