Carlo Ancelotti met with the Real Madrid management after last night’s defeat to AC Milan to discuss his future, a report claims.
Milan pulled off what many would consider to be a rather surprising result in the Champions League as they ran out 3-1 winners against the current holders at the Santiago Bernabeu, and it was fully deserved too.
According to Marca, Real Madrid’s leaders met with Ancelotti after the 4-0 El Clasico defeat against Barcelona but after another negative result against the Rossoneri they spoke with him again because ‘they wanted to get his thoughts in the heat of the moment’.
As our colleagues at Football Espana relay, Ancelotti ‘was asked whether he felt capable of turning things around’ and if he felt that the Real Madrid squad still believed in his ideas. However, the dialogue was far from at the crisis levels of just before Rafael Benitez and Julen Lopetegui were fired.
Ancelotti told his superiors that he believes the players are still on his side despite the last two results at the Bernabeu, but a turnaround is expected soon before things turn even more sour. Madrid’s next five games are Osasuna, Leganes, Liverpool (Champions League), Getafe and Athletic Club.
