A permanent move for Marcelo Saracchi is all but over, with the Uruguayan taking to social media last night to say a final goodbye to the Celtic supporters.

The former River Plate, RB Leipzig, Galatasaray, and Levante left back provided perfect cover for Kieran Tierney last campaign, after arriving on loan from Argentine side Boca Juniors, and despite suffering from his fair share of injuries, he became a hugely popular figure among the Celtic supporters and a key performer in Celtic’s dramatic title success.

His farewell message came via  Instagram, as the 28 year old left-back, who scored one goal, and provided two assists in 27 appearances in the clubs double winning campaign stated:

“My agent and I did absolutely everything within our power to make a return to Glasgow happen. I’m truly gutted that I won’t be able to continue at the club at this stage of my career. However, I know our paths will cross again in the future”

“I wish you all nothing but the best for what’s ahead. Thank you for everything”

Celtic currently find themselves severely depleted in a number of positions, as well as Marcelo Saracchi, Kelechi Iheanacho will also be a huge miss from last season’s squad, after signing for Turkish side Bursaspor.

The club also announced tonight Maik Nawrocki has left the club to join French side Lens, and there are huge question marks hanging over the future of a number of key players, including skipper Callum McGregor and key midfielders Arne Engels, and Benjamin Nygren, not to mention the likes of Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate also expected to depart in the coming weeks.

11 times capped Saracchi, would have been the perfect addition, as the fully dedicated defender, is not only a highly experienced player, but he more than proved his undoubted ability during his loan spell last season.

The player was pushing for the move, and Martin O’Neill was very keen on keeping him around, as were the supporters. But yet again, our incompetent leaders failed to conclude a straightforward deal, one of the easy ones according to Michael Nicholson.

Celtic take on Middlesbrough today and it’s expected to have a very low crowd with perhaps more away fans at the stadium than Celtic supporters.

That could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Nicholson & Co but it will only be a delay before they face the wrath of a Celtic support who can see right through his incompetence and the undermining of yet another legendary Celtic manager from the crew who gave us Wilfried Nancy as a Brendan Rodgers replacement.

Best of luck to Marcello whose role in taking that league title away from Hearts in the closing minutes of the season will never be underestimated or forgotten by the Celtic support.

Hang your head in shame Michael.
