Fulham manager Marco Silva is close to reaching an agreement to take over at Benfica following the departure of Jose Mourinho, according to the BBC.
Mourinho is set to become Real Madrid manager imminently, and took Benfica to a third-placed league finish while going unbeaten.
Silva’s contract expires later this month and it was known that he was looking elsewhere.
The Portuguese took over at Fulham five years ago, and the club have enjoyed steady progress under the 48-year-old after a period of instability including relegation before he joined.
Fulham finished 11th in the Premier League this season, level on points with Chelsea.
The club broke their record points tally in the Premier League under Silva, with 54 in the 2024/25 season.
