Cottagers impressed by winger’s contributions on loan
Marco Silva has confirmed there have been no further talks over Samuel Chukwueze joining Fulham on a permanent deal.
Chukwueze signed for Fulham on loan with an option to buy from AC Milan on Deadline Day, with Silva keen to bolster his attacking options.
Standard Sport understands the option to buy is set at between £22-26million. The player is open to staying at Craven Cottage, should the clubs reach an agreement for his transfer.
After a promising but injury-hit start to life in west London, Chukwueze announced himself to the Premier League on Tuesday with two goals off the bench as Fulham nearly came back from 5-1 down against Manchester City.
The Nigerian winger has added a different dimension to Fulham’s attack this season, and calls for the club to make his deal permanent next summer have intensified.
Silva, though, is relaxed about the situation and said discussions about Chukwueze’s future have yet to take place.
"No talks. We have protected ourselves with the deal. He's been very good for us; let's hope he can do the same things in the next 1-2 games. We have an option with him,” Silva said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Fulham are still expected to go into the January market for a forward following Rodrigo Muniz’s hamstring injury.
However, promising performances off the bench against City from Chukwueze, Jonah Kusi-Asare and club-record signing Kevin will have given Silva fresh encouragement regarding his attacking options.
"Let's take the positives into the game vs Palace. I mentioned to the players (after the City game), let's go home & take the reaction from the fans, the way there were. No-one left their seat."
