Marco Silva shifts trio to Benfica B with Rego loan likely before St. Gallen | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Marco Silva has moved Rui Silva, Miguel Figueiredo and Gonçalo Moreira to Benfica B, while João Rego is likely to leave on loan.

The coach now has his full squad together after the returns of Richard Ríos, Fredrik Aursnes and Andreas Schjelderup from World Cup duty. With everyone available, immediate plans for academy players have been set.

Rui Silva, Figueiredo and Moreira will feature mainly for the B side, but will continue to train regularly with the first team and remain on standby. The approach is intended to aid their development.

Rego, a 21-year-old winger first introduced by Roger Schmidt, has yet to establish himself at the Luz. A summer loan is seen as the best route to minutes, and he was previously close to a permanent exit.

Before the decisive tie with St. Gallen, there is a boost. Leandro Barreiro has recovered from the respiratory infection that ruled him out of the first leg and should be available for Thursday’s match at Estádio da Luz.

Despite a complete squad, Benfica’s window remains active. António Silva is expected to depart after the St. Gallen game for Bournemouth, while Schjelderup continues to attract strong interest. Rui Costa still aims to reinforce the squad before the deadline.
