Marcos Braz has lifted the lid on his time at Flamengo and his current work at Remo, admitting past mistakes and outlining his recruitment approach. The title-winning former Flamengo executive assembled in 2025 the Remo squad that ended a wait of more than three decades for a return to Série A.
He discussed controversies and accepted wrong calls, including an altercation with a Flamengo fan in a Rio shopping centre. According to Globo.com, he also said Landim’s administration erred in handling the Ninho tragedy.
His appetite for signings remains. For Remo’s top-flight comeback there are already 11 additions and a freshly won Supercopa Grão Pará, and he portrays himself as successful regardless of budget.
Braz reflected on a volatile relationship with Gabigol and on sacking coaches during turbulent spells. He also compared the challenges presented by Gabigol and Adriano. The former statutory amateur director is now a professional executive and did not duck difficult subjects.
Celebrating promotion with Remo, he acknowledged the strain of working for clubs that rival Flamengo. On the eve of Série A, he admitted that simply thinking about facing Flamengo affects him and closes some market doors.
Remo open their Série A campaign next Wednesday against Vitória at the Barradão in Salvador. Their meeting with Flamengo is scheduled for 19 March at the Maracanã.
