He was left out of numerous squads before joining Aston Villa on loan in the second half of the 2024/2025 season.

Rashford did not accept a permanent move to Villa though and eventually got his wish to join FC Barcelona temporarily on loan in July.

Strong start to life in Catalonia

The Carrington academy product has made a good start to life at the Camp Nou, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists in 24 matches in all competitions.

There has been much debate in the media whether this has been enough to convince Barca to sign the player permanently in the summer.

Nonetheless, whilst the Catalans are still keeping their cards close to their chest, Rashford could not be clearer on what he wants with his future.

Barcelona stay

Speaking to Catalan newspaper Sport, Rashford claimed, “it’s clear, what I want is to stay at Barça. That’s the ultimate goal, but it’s not the reason why I train hard and give my best. The goal is to win.”

Rashford was also very complimentary of his new side by asserting, “Barça is a fantastic, huge club, built to win titles.”

The 28-year-old also added that he is thriving off the “pressure you want as a player” that is present around the club.

He continued, “I can’t be somewhere where there aren’t high expectations. For me, it’s harder to stay motivated and give my best at a club where the demands aren’t at their highest. I’m in the perfect place and the perfect environment to continue my career, so I try to give my best every day to help the team win. We’ll see what happens this summer.”

Rashford will enjoy a rare winter break in his football career before Barcelona make the short trip to Espanyol’s stadium on January 3rd.
