On-loan Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford has made it clear that he wants to make his move permanent at the end of the season.
Rashford has described a permanent move to Barcelona as his ‘ultimate goal’ after a strong start to life in Spain.
The 28-year-old joined Barcelona last summer after falling out with manager Ruben Amorim and slipping down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, but his summer move to Barcelona is proving to be a shrewd decision.
The England international has racked up seven goals and 11 assists in 24 games for Barcelona.
He has scored two goals in 17 La Liga games, although he has only been named in the starting line-up 11 times.
His tally could be significantly higher if he hadn’t spurned seven big chances.
While his goalscoring tally in the league may be uninspiring, Rashford has made up for it by unlocking his creative abilities.
He has chipped in with eight assists in La Liga, creating four big chances while averaging 1.6 key passes per 90 minutes.
Rashford’s role at Barcelona has reduced since Raphinha returned from injury, but he has won over the fans by adding fresh goal threat to the club’s star-studded attacking line-up.
The winger, who has previously been described as a ‘fantastic‘ player by manager Hansi Flick, has once again been clear about his desire to remain at Barcelona.
“It’s the ultimate goal, but it’s not the reason I’m training hard and giving my all. The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles.”
Rashford’s loan move to Barcelona includes an optional purchase clause worth £26 million. It is unclear if the Blaugranas are willing to keep him beyond this summer.
