Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford appears to be hurtling toward an Old Trafford exit as his agent and brother, Dwaine Maynard, is expected to meet with the club at some point today.

It appears as if AC Milan are set to secure Rashford’s signature.

“There is a lot of competition for the English player. The Red Devils would prefer to loan the English player and are also ready to pay a good part of his salary,” Gianluca DiMarzio reported.

“Wednesday, January 15 will be a very important day for the future of the 1997 class and for the Rossoneri, who could have a decisive feedback. Rashford’s brother-agent will meet Man United to communicate his decision: Milan expects it to be that of choosing the Rossoneri.”

Since Ruben Amorim’s arrival as United’s new manager, Rashford has clearly fallen down the pecking order.

The English attacker has not featured in a Premier League game since the 2-3 loss to Nottingham Forest, featuring on the bench once since then while being omitted from the squad altogether on four occasions.

Rashford’s downfall has been met with a flurry of transfer links, with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reportedly looking to lure the 27 year old to Spain.

AS Monaco was another potential suitor who was linked with Rashford, however, they appear unlikely to close a deal if reports are to be believed.

Still, while the French club may have bowed out of the race, Milan appear to still be hot on Rashford’s heels. The club’s chief, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, confirmed the Italian giants’ interest in Rashford, admitting that he would like to speak with him.

Milan’s pursuit appeared to advance in their pursuit of Rashford on Monday, with Italian journalist Vito Angele claiming that significant progress had been made.

While Rashford certainly proved himself to be an asset to United at multiple points throughout his career, his departure may be for the best, not only because of Amorim’s lack of need for him but also his continued decline in form. Perhaps the sale could also help to fund United’s future transfer pursuits.
