Enzo Maresca has highlighted one thing Noni Madueke has to improve “immediately” after Chelsea’s win against Wolves on Monday night.

The Blues returned to winning ways for the first time in five matches as they ran out 3-1 victors at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella and Madueke.

The three points moved Chelsea back into the top four and two points ahead of Newcastle and Manchester City in the race for Champions League football.

Maresca reveals what Madueke must improve on

The Blues were without Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Levi Colwill, but Cole Palmer did make it and started in attack with Madueke, Pedro Neto and Nicolas Jackson.

Madueke has had a good season and his goal against Wolves was his sixth and his fourth against them this campaign.

Maresca has previously described Madueke as one of the best players at Chelsea, and although he scored he didn’t put in his best performance.

Speaking after the game Maresca stated the England international can improve in the final third and highlighted one thing he has to rectify straight away.

“He can improve in the last third, but probably after he scored the goal he stopped playing,” he said as cited on X.com.

“This has to be one thing we need to improve immediately. Never happy if you score one or two, always you have to go for more.”

Madueke has fallen foul of Maresca on multiple occasions already this season with the winger being left out of the squad against Fulham for not performing well enough in training.

Maresca also criticised Madueke’s effort in training after the 5-1 against Southampton earlier this season, and it’s very much something the Englishman needs to improve on.

Madueke is in with a chance of starting against City on Saturday and he will need to put in a better performance if the Blues are to stand a chance of picking up a result.
