Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has said Premier League leaders Liverpool ‘might be impossible to catch’ in the title race.
Liverpool have started their defence of the Premier League with five consecutive wins. The Reds are the only team with maximum points after five games and have already established a five-point lead at the top of the table.
The strong start from Arne Slot’s side is an ominous warning to the rest of the division, particularly after a record-breaking summer spend.
Liverpool’s transfer business included the British record arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, while fellow recruit Hugo Ekitike has scored four goals in seven games across all competitions.
Maresca, whose Chelsea side are three without a win in all competitions, admits Liverpool are strong title favourites.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao cup tie at Lincoln City, Maresca said: “If they continue in this way I think it is impossible to catch them, not just for us, but for all the clubs.
“They have been doing a fantastic job since last year, and the players they have decided to buy shows the intention of the club to go again for the Premier League and the Champions League, and that is quite clear.”
