Celtic FC Women signed off 2025 with an impressive and important 2-1 win over defending champions, Hibernian at Meadowbank Stadium on Sunday.
Goals from Maria McAneny and Saoirse Noonan delivered three vital SPWPL points to the Hoops, who are now in a three-way tie in second place on 31 points, alongside Hearts and Rangers, with Glasgow City seven points ahead of the chasing pack going into the winter break.
Maria McAneny got the scoring underway straight from kick-off, scoring with a shot from the halfway line for a stunning start to the game.
And the Celtic attacker, whose impressive form this season has also seen her gain her first caps for Scotland, was delighted with the win.
“We really needed the three points,” Maria McAneny told Celtic TV after the game. “It’s been a long time coming and I’m so glad we got to get them in the end.
“We all fought really hard and that was really important. We all dug deep and it paid off.”
The Celtic squad will now enjoy a short winter break before they return to action on January 11 next year with a Scottish Cup tie against Hibernian.
