Marino Hinestroza, Vasco’s second most expensive signing this season, is still seeking a breakthrough. The 23-year-old forward hopes the international break will help him persuade Renato Gaúcho in training that he merits a first start.
According to Globo.com, he has made eight substitute appearances with no goals or assists. That could change when Vasco visit Coritiba on Wednesday in the Brasileirão.
His first outing under Gaúcho came in the last round against Grêmio, when he replaced Nuno Moreira 12 minutes into the second half.
Renato will be without forward Andrés Gómez through suspension, and the replacement is undecided. David could move back to the left to free Brenner for a central role. Alternatively, David may stay up front with the Portuguese Nuno Moreira on the left, leaving Hinestroza contesting a starting berth with Adson.
The Colombian had been involved in his national team’s World Cup cycle while at Atlético Nacional, but he has missed recent squads and was again overlooked this window, further denting his prospects.
He received three call-ups from Néstor Lorenzo in 2025 for the South American qualifiers, coming off the bench against Peru in June and Bolivia in September. He was also in the March camp but did not feature against Brazil or Paraguay.
