Marino Hinestroza breaks his silence, reveals why he didn't join Boca

After so much back and forth, Marino Hinestroza will ultimately not be joining Boca in this transfer window. Even though the Colombian winger wanted to wear the blue and gold jersey, he will not be joining Xeneize as a reinforcement due to Atlético Nacional’s refusal, and will instead become a new player for Vasco da Gama.

Before leaving for Brazil, specifically Rio de Janeiro, the footballer spoke to the press and addressed one of the sagas of this transfer window. Although Boca’s management made an effort to sign him and his wish was to play for the club, Verdolaga chose to prioritize the offer from the Brazilian team.

The player made this clear: “I was always firm in Boca’s proposal, in going to Boca, until Vasco da Gama came along and at that point, it was no longer up to me.” He also added: “Mostly they talked among themselves, they made the decision themselves and that’s it, I waited patiently with my family because we were already a bit worried about the situation since it had been many days without training.”

In the same vein, he added: “In the end, an agreement was reached with Vasco and I’m happy, happy about that. The truth is, I am the employee and the company (Atlético) Nacional, and those are business matters, and well, I am the servant and I’m always willing to go wherever the company wants to send me.”

To conclude, the 23-year-old footballer emphasized: “It’s not up to me to talk about Boca, I think that’s up to Nacional because they handled the negotiations and all that, and I just waited, waited patiently for the opportunity to come, and well, it happened with Vasco and I’m happy because I think it’s going to be the best for my career right now.”
