Omar Marmoush has been named in Manchester City’s travelling squad to face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League, but Matheus Nunes misses out.

Marmoush has spent the past month representing his country at the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, after falling at the semi-final stage, he is now back with his club.

The forward’s availability will come as a welcome boost for City. Manager Pep Guardiola previously said that he was not expecting Marmoush to return in time for the match in Norway.

However, City will be weakened by the absence of Nunes. After missing the Manchester derby on Saturday, the Portugal international is once again not named in the 21-man travelling squad.

Nunes has established himself as an important player in Guardiola’s squad – albeit as a right-back rather than in his original position in central midfield. Before missing the game at Old Trafford, he had started in each of City’s last 16 Premier League matches.

Guardiola confirmed that Nunes’ absence at the weekend was caused by flu. It is hoped that he could return in time to face Wolves next Saturday.

City’s travelling squad in full: James Trafford, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake, Omar Marmoush, Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, Jeremy Doku, Marcus Bettinelli, Rodri, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Nico O’Reilly, Abdukodir Khusanov, Phil Foden, Charlie Gray, Divine Mukasa, Max Alleyne, Rico Lewis, Kian Noble, Stephen Mfuni, Tyrone Samba
