Omar Marmoush scored for Egypt and Manchester City duo Tijani Reijnders and Nathan Ake both featured as the Netherlands edged past Lithuania in their World Cup qualifier.
The Dutch went 2-0 up within 33 minutes of the match with goals from Memphis Depay and Quinten Timber but Lithuania came back fighting to score two leaving the score at 2-2 at half time.
Both City stars were taken off in the 62nd minute just before Depay headed home the winner.
Ake was left out of the Netherlands’ previous match against Poland but Reijnders featured in both. A late equaliser from Matty Cash meant the game was drawn 1-1.
Omar Marmoush was on target from the spot as Egypt got the better of Ethiopa in their World Cup qualifier. Goals from Mohammed Salah and the City forward proved to be enough for the three points.
The win puts them five points clear at the top of their qualifying group giving them a very good chance of being at the next World Cup.
Meanwhile, new City signing Gianluigi Donnarumma captained Italy to a 5-0 win over Estonia. The Italian was signed on deadline day from Paris St. Germain and was key to Italy keeping a clean sheet.
Another player to keep a clean sheet was Ruben Dias who played all 90 minutes as Portugal eased past Armenia. Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix both scored twice and former City defender Joao Cancelo scored the other.
City midfielder Bernardo Silva was an unused substitute in the match and he will be hoping to get some minutes when Portugal take on Hungary on Tuesday.
And finally, James Trafford was also an unused substitute in England’s 2-0 win over Andorra. An own goal from Christian Gonzalez and a back post header from Declan Rice were enough for England to get the three points and extend their lead at the top of their World Cup qualifying group.
