According to figures published by L’Équipe, Olympique de Marseille are currently operating with the highest wage bill in their history. It comes under the backing of owner Frank McCourt, who is looking to sell a minority stake in the club as well as a new president.

There is the financial dominance of Paris Saint-Germain, whose average monthly salary sits at around €650,000 gross. Yet Marseille rank comfortably as Ligue 1’s second-biggest spenders, with an estimated average salary of €300,000 gross per month. This places them well ahead of domestic rivals such as Stade Rennais FC (€118,000), Olympique Lyonnais (€110,000), and RC Lens (€80,000).

Højbjerg leads OM’s wage structure

At individual level, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is Marseille’s top earner, with an estimated monthly salary of €500,000 gross. The Danish international is also the highest-paid non-PSG player in Ligue 1, ranking joint-13th overall.

He is followed closely by Mason Greenwood and Geoffrey Kondogbia, who both earn approximately €450,000 gross per month. Behind the leading trio, Marseille’s upper salary bracket remains dense, reflecting a squad built with experienced internationals and high-profile recruits. Nayef Aguerd (€400,000) sits just below the podium, while a group including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Leonardo Balerdi, Igor Paixão and Benjamin Pavard (loan contribution) are all estimated at €350,000 gross monthly. Further down, players such as Facundo Medina, Quinten Timber, Hamad-Junior Traoré and Gerónimo Rulli are reported to earn around €320,000 gross per month.

On the touchline, Marseille also rank highly. New head coach Habib Beye is estimated to earn €230,000 gross per month, making him the third-highest paid manager in Ligue 1 behind Luis Enrique and Paulo Fonseca. Former OM boss and new Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly earned around €500,000 when he was at the club earlier this season.GFFN | George Boxall
